Damage

10.1.11

When Chris Frasco’s album Damage landed on my desk, I realized that I don’t make as much time to listen to new music as I should.  Let’s face it, after the day job, the second job, friends and errands, music for pleasure seems to get further and further from the spotlight.  Yet music is always playing throughout my day. Only thing is, I find myself listening to crap most of the time since it’s playing in the background (especially at the gym).  But once I downloaded Damage I found myself playing the album on repeat the entire week.

Damage is Chris Frasco’s second album.  As a whole, Frasco’s new creation plays more like old video footage exposing you to reels of memories and emotions to which most anyone can relate. His vocals allow you to find yourself right in the room with him, leaning on every word. He makes you feel comfortable using sincere moving melody lines, while showing sophistication with his instrumentation. Songs like ”numb to me” and “rest in peace” though opposites in style really stand out and prove that Frasco has taken the next step in his music. An acoustic version of “numb to me” is on Frasco’s first album and it’s very cool to hear where he took this song.

After hearing this album, I can’t wait to see Chris and his band live. It’s a pity this album sat on my desk for so long. I plan on changing this with all new music. But as fall approaches, Damage is the perfect soundtrack to Boston’s returning students and changing leaves. Let’s hope Chris is able to break from Brooklyn for a bit and play a few shows in Massachusetts. After all, one of the songs is about Boston; he’s got to. -m
